Bringing his jazz style from Philadelphia, USA and merging it with his soulful roots, Lawrence now lives in the UK where leads his new band The Lawrence Jones Experience, featuring bassist Paul Whitten, drummer Tristan Banks and Pianist Terry Seabrook. Before Covid he played every Sunday at the famous Lion and Lobster venue in Brighton which he ran for over 20 years. Known for his hypnotic alto sax & flute playing and personal approach to jazz he both inspires and absorbs his audiences. When Lawrence played at Malcolm X Park during the West Philadelphia Jazz Series the Philly Blog said: “he blew like a cool breeze.”Recently Lawrence has been featured in, ‘The David Murray Big Band’ featuring Macy Grey and James Blood Ulmer and he has toured throughout Europe and America. He has played with some of the major jazz musicians of the last century, such as South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim and saxophonist Grover Washington Jr.
